pub enum ColumnFit {
Fill,
Intrinsic,
}Expand description
How a table divides the width it is given.
A table is nearly always given more width than the columns asked for, and what it does with the remainder is the difference between a table and a picture of one. HTML settled this a long time ago: a table fills its box, specified widths are honoured, and the surplus goes to whoever will take it. This is that rule.
Variants§
Fill
Columns divide the table’s whole width; the default.
The surplus over what the columns asked for goes to the columns that
asked to grow with RecordColumn::fill, or - when none did - to all
of them in proportion to the widths they already have. Either way the
table ends where its frame ends rather than leaving a band of nothing
beside the last column.
Intrinsic
Columns keep exactly the widths they were given.
The table ends where its columns end, and the reader may drag a column edge: a width the table computes cannot also be a width the reader chooses, so dragging belongs to this mode alone.
